Welcome
We encourage sharing information with our community at the following festivals and events. We provide information to the community about upcoming groups being held at our Neighbourhood Centre. We provide residents with translated information for those who speak languages other than English.
We perform a community needs analysis enabling us to improve service delivery to people in our community. For further detailed analysis on various services and surveys, please have a look in the AGM report 2006, pages 26 - 34.

Information Stalls at Playgroups in the Park
During the year we provide Neighbourhood Centre information stalls at events planned in collaboration with other community service providers in our community. These events are held regularly each year:-
- ‘Playgroups on the Green'
- This event is held in collaboration with Connect Redfern and other locally based family and children’s services these information sharing days are held regularly during the year. Jo Fletcher the Coordinator of Connect Redfern regularly invites us to hold an information stall for our community at these events. We hand out information bags including translated information relating to our programmes and upcoming groups. We provide copies of our newsletters and brochures and provide information pamphlets from government and non-government organisations in different community languages. We contact many families from different cultures at this event and actively encourage them to visit our Neighbourhood Centre.
- ‘Playgroups in the Park’
- Around 70 families regularly access the opportunity to attend this event. Besides providing an information stall, where we hand out our newsletters, brochures and flyers. We often work together with the Deli Women and Children’s Centre by providing collage material, colouring-in competitions for children and making cards for family members. We use this interaction with children, parents and grandparents to introduce our Neighbourhood Centre's services to them and promote many of our groups that they may be interested in.
- ‘Plates in the Park’
- The Inner City Domestic Violence Action Group organises events during the year that bring women and children into contact with services in our area working with issues related to domestic violence and abuse.
One of these events is ‘Plates in the Park’ which is held in Redfern Park. This is an anti-violence event held by the Inner City Domestic Violence Action Group and Blackout Violence. There is singing and dancing (with the aid of a Karaoke machine). People bring plates of food with them to share with others. The ‘slurpie’ machine is quite a hit on the day for the children (both big and little). We make our stand against violence in our community by encouraging all our community members and friends to come on the day.
We have a Neighbourhood Centre stall with all our information including our Domestic Violence “Woman’s Art, Expression and Empowerment Group” information and invitations.
